CWI3403-AP001

CWI3403-AP001 was crafted from an electronic IWC Ref. 3403 in “Metal Durci” alloy, circa 1970. As an “Artist’s Proof” this piece was created as part of the Cloister Collection.

After sourcing this 38mm IWC we completed a full mechanical restoration of the watch’s original, electronic movement as well as a cosmetic restoration of the integrated case and bracelet. We fabricated and fitted a replacement sapphire crystal and selected a “tropical/ slate” hue for the watch’s dial, which reads brown, grey, or black depending on light conditions. We executed a “date delete”, applied a crosshair motif in gold paint, and retained the watch’s unique minute track. A period-correct “IWC” applied logo piece was sourced and installed at 9 o’clock, with IWCs text convention simplified and printed below the horizontal crosshair. The original handset was retained and plated in eighteen karat yellow gold, and the watch’s caseback was hand-engraved with the Cloister Mark.
