Linen
CWP3579-073
CWP3579-073 was crafted from a stainless steel Patek Philippe Ref. 3579, circa 1972.
The inspiration for Linen began when a client admired his friend’s Patek Ref. 3579 and was subsequently gifted an example of the same, albeit in less pristine condition. After we completed a full mechanical restoration of the watch, we removed the oil-stained and discolored original dial and refinished it in a warm eggshell hue with a “linen” paint effect. We plated the handset and applied indices in yellow gold to tie together the steel case with the newly warm dial. Accenting text was rendered in black as a nod to the original enamel of the watch’s handset, which we preserved.
To complement the watch’s 70s cushion-shape case, we sourced a pair of matching, period-correct steel Gay Frères bracelets, restoring them to eliminate decades of stretch and combining them to accommodate the client’s wrist. We then fabricated bespoke endlinks to tie watch to bracelet while preserving the unique lines of the original Patek Philippe design. Finally, we brushed the majority of the watch’s case and bracelet while leaving minor accents of Zaratsu polishing to catch the light.
