CWP5130-086

CWP5130-086 was crafted from a Patek Philippe Ref. 5130 World Time in eighteen karat white gold.

When this World Time’s original owner provided it to Cloister, the watch bore the marks of heavy use. After completing a full mechanical overhaul of the watch alongside a cosmetic restoration of the case and bracelet, we sought to radically simplify the watch’s design without impeding its functionality. Taking inspiration from two different World Time watches—Jean-Claude Biver’s Ref. 96HU from 1937, and a “prototype dial” Patek from 2011—we designed a two-color dial layout with the exterior rendered in butter yellow and the interior in a warm white paint with subtle vertical brushing.

In lieu of a signature on the dial applied indices, we sourced an original Patek Cal. 96 dial, refinished its yellow gold indices, and installed them on the dial at 3, 6, 9 and 12, complemented by custom-fabricated circular “nipple” plots as hour markers. Text was rendered in a simple black, and the watch’s original handset was replated in yellow gold to match the indices. After the watch was reassembled, we completed this project with a custom-designed, engraved monogram for the watch’s new owner (not pictured), and delivered the watch with a bespoke leather strap fabricated from a 1950s era Hermes riding saddle, along with a vintage OEM Patek tang buckle in white gold.
