CWA5402-067
CWA5402-067 was crafted from a stainless steel Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Ref. 5402 produced in 1972.
After this watch’s original owner provided it to Cloister to be reimagined, we completed a full mechanical restoration of the watch’s automatic movement while preserving the Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) treatment which had been applied to the watch’s case by a previous owner.
We removed the original dial and fabricated an unbacked bloodstone dial, executed without a date window, which allows the movement’s silhouette to become visible in direct sunlight. We applied the standard AP Ref. 5402 text convention to the bloodstone dial in white paint, alongside a custom-fabricated, white gold logo at 6 o’clock. We retained the watch’s original handset. This early “A-Series” example of the Royal Oak (one of the final 3 watches from the model’s first year of production) is considered a prototype for Cloister’s forthcoming adventure into the world of the stone-dial Ref. 5402.
